EL CAJON–A parolee wanted in connection with the shooting death of a man in unincorporated El Cajon was arrested by authorities.
The San Diego County Fugitive Task Force located 23-year-old Richard “Ricky” James Gunner near Rio Seco Elementary School on Cuyamaca Street in Santee just before 10 p.m. Saturday. He was taken into custody without incident, and was booked at Central Jail for murder and a no-bail felony warrant for parole violation.
Earlier that morning, Sheriff’s deputies located a male lying on the sidewalk in the 500 block of Danny Street in unincorporated El Cajon. The victim died from an apparent gunshot wound, homicide detectives say.
On Sunday, the Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identity of the victim as 21- year-old Brandon Deguzman.
Homicide detectives say Gunner committed the crime during an altercation with Deguzman outside his home. Gunner was an acquaintance of the victim and was in the victim’s company along with several other people earlier that morning and in the evening.
