OCEANSIDE–An Oceanside man possibly despondent over a family issue was arrested for firing gunshots in his apartment, authorities said Sunday.
Robert Bredeweg, 63, was booked into the Vista Detention Facility for assault with a deadly weapon and multiple counts of negligently discharging a firearm.
Oceanside police responded to an apartment complex in the 500 block of North Freeman for a reported disturbance with gunshots being fired from within one of the apartment units.
Police officers arrived on scene and could hear continued gunfire, specifically shotgun blasts from inside the apartment. Evacuations were conducted of other nearby units as officers attempted to contain the target apartment residence.
The department’s SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) personnel were able to persuade Bredeweg to come outside where he was safely taken into custody by SWAT personnel.
There were no injuries to anyone reported during the incident.
