Oceanside, CA–The Oceanside Public Library will host a Youth Engagement and Leadership Project for youths ages 14 to 17 who are interested in social justice and want to make an impact in their community.

Through this project, participants will gain leadership skills, learn about the library, and create their library service around a social justice topic for the community.

The project consists of a six-session leadership and programming training series, which runs from February 28 to April 3, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. The initial three sessions, February 28, March 6, and March 13 will be centered on leadership with Synergy In-Power-Meant, and will be held online. The last three sessions, March 20, March 27, and April 3 will be centered on programming development and will be held at the Civic Center Library, located at 330 North Coast Highway. The training series will culminate in teen participants creating a library program or service for the community in April or May.

The Youth Engagement and Leadership Project is supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian, and the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library.
