SAN DIEGO–The northbound Interstate 5 (I-5) connector ramp from the San Diego-Coronado Bridge will close through Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for electrical work.
Signs will be posted detouring motorists to the National Avenue off-ramp and turn right, continue straight to Cesar E. Chavez Parkway and turn right onto Kearney Avenue/19th Street to the 19th Street northbound I-5 on-ramp.
The work is part of a $14.6 million project to upgrade the electrical systems on the San Diego-Coronado Bridge. The existing electrical systems are approximately 50 years old and much of the current equipment is outdated. The upgrade includes replacing the existing bridge light fixtures to Light-Emitting Diode (LED) lights that are lower energy consumption. The project is expected to be completed by next summer.
