Oceanside, CA–Three people were injured early Saturday morning in a collision involving a motorcycle and a car at the intersection of Douglas Drive and Mission Avenue, authorities said.
The crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. when a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling eastbound on Mission Avenue struck the left side of a black Volkswagen Beetle headed northbound on Douglas Drive, according to the Oceanside Police Department.
The impact ejected both the 24-year-old rider and his 23-year-old passenger from the motorcycle. Police said the rider suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital, while his passenger sustained moderate injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 19-year-old Oceanside woman, was also hospitalized with minor injuries. Police confirmed she was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.
Investigators said alcohol may have been a factor for the motorcyclist. The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
