Oceanside, CA–A fire that broke out in an exterior storage yard at a commercial property in Oceanside on Monday afternoon was quickly contained by firefighters, preventing damage to the adjacent building, the Oceanside Fire Department reports.
Fire crews responded to reports of a structure fire at approximately 2 p.m. in the 3200 block of Roymar Street. When crews arrived at the scene, they found flames burning in an exterior storage area next to a stand-up concrete commercial structure. Crews contained the blaze before it reached the building’s interior. They then moved onto the roof to evaluate conditions and check for any fire spread.
Additional crews conducted a search of the structure to ensure no occupants were inside and to determine whether the fire had spread indoors. Fire officials reported that no occupants were found and there was no evidence of interior fire extension.
According to the Oceanside Fire Department, the combination of the building’s fire-resistant construction and the swift actions of responding personnel helped confine the blaze to the exterior storage area. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Fire officials are reminding businesses and property owners to maintain clear access around structures and properly store combustible materials to help reduce the risk of fire.
