San Marcos, CA–Authorities are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred Thursday afternoon in the San Elijo community of San Marcos.
According to the San Marcos Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 3 p.m. to reports of a crash involving a gray Honda CR-V and a white Nissan Sentra on San Elijo Road.
Investigators report that the Nissan Sentra, driven by an adult woman, was traveling westbound when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car crossed the center median and entered oncoming traffic, colliding with the Honda CR-V.
The driver of the Nissan Sentra was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda CR-V, also an adult woman, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. Authorities said she is cooperating fully with investigators.
The San Marcos Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit is leading the investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
