Oceanside, CA–An elderly man who was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street on July 29 has succumbed to his injuries, according to the Oceanside Police Department.
At approximately 7:31 a.m., Oceanside Police responded to reports of a major injury collision at the intersection of Rancho Del Oro Drive and Via Rancho. The incident involved a pedestrian, identified as 83-year-old Henry Broncy, and a vehicle driven by a 46-year-old Oceanside resident.
The driver, who remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
According to Oceanside Police, preliminary investigations indicate that Broncy was crossing the street outside a marked pedestrian crosswalk when struck. No arrests have been made, and no charges are pending against the driver.
Broncy was transported to a local trauma center with severe injuries and was later pronounced dead on Monday.
The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the incident.
