Burglary suspect caught hiding in ceiling of Oceanside business

By Gina Yarbrough

Oceanside, CA–A burglary suspect was arrested early Friday morning after Oceanside police found him attempting to hide in the ceiling of a local business, authorities said.

Officers from the Oceanside Police Department responded around 3:16 a.m. to a burglary alarm at a business, located in the 1900 block of Mission Avenue. Upon arrival, officers spotted a suspect inside the premises and called for additional support, including a K-9 unit from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

During their search, officers suspected the individual was hiding in a ceiling crawl space. Utilizing a department drone, they located the suspect above the ceiling tiles. According to police, the man appeared to be pretending to sleep and nearly fell through the ceiling while trying to stay hidden. Officers were able to safely extract the suspect without incident.

The man, identified as 36-year-old Karlos Jordon of Oceanside, was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on burglary charges and an outstanding warrant.

Authorities believe Jordon may be linked to other burglaries in the area. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Joshua Young of the Oceanside Police Department at (760) 435-4729.
