The incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. on a trail near the intersection of Questhaven and San Elijo Roads.
San Marcos, CA–Sheriff’s Department detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating and identifying a suspect responsible for shooting a man in the leg with a handgun in San Marcos.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the victim was walking on a trail when he was approached by three individuals wearing dark hoodies. At some point during the encounter, the victim was shot in the leg. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.
Following the shooting, the victim sought help from nearby residents. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to fully recover from his injuries.
Deputies investigating the incident recovered a ghost gun in the vicinity of the crime scene. However, no suspects have been identified in connection with the shooting.
