Oceanside, CA–After more than 15 years, authorities have arrested in a long-unsolved homicide case, bringing long-awaited closure to the investigation.
The Oceanside Police Department announced the arrest of 59-year-old Jeffrey Roberson in connection with the 2008 murder of Cecil Zachary Jr. He was taken into custody on Tuesday in Spring Valley after DNA evidence linked him to the crime.
According to investigators, Roberson was identified as a suspect through forensic advancements. Following his apprehension, he was interviewed by Oceanside Police Department Crimes of Violence Detectives, during which he reportedly admitted to the killing.
Roberson has been booked into the San Diego Central Jail on murder charges.
“This arrest is the result of years of dedicated investigative work and advancements in forensic technology,” authorities stated. “We remain committed to seeking justice for victims and their families, no matter how much time has passed.”
