SANTEE–The man who died after deputies found him lying on a Santee sidewalk Sunday has been identified as 51-year-old Warren Morris of Santee.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has notified Morris’ family and performed an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. The results of the autopsy have not yet been determined or released.
On December 23, a Santee patrol deputy observed a man lying on the sidewalk in a shopping complex behind a Walmart store. When the deputy approached and spoke to the man, he sat up and the deputy noticed the male was also in possession of an open container of alcohol. The man was found to be so intoxicated he was unable to care for himself. He was subsequently arrested for public intoxication and sat in the back seat of a patrol car. Moments later, deputies noticed the man’s breathing was labored. The man soon stopped breathing and deputies began CPR, until medics arrived and took over CPR.
The man was transported to a local hospital, but despite further lifesaving efforts he was pronounced dead.
