CARLSBAD–Authorities arrested a man in Banning, California in connection with a shooting at a party on Tide Court in Carlsbad that left one man injured, the Carlsbad Police Department reports.

The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Malique Travon Campbell from Banning, California, was taken into custody, shortly before 10 a.m. in the city.  

Campbell was charged with attempted murder, assault with a firearm, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime, felon in possession of a firearm, and a probation violation. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility.  

On March 10, the Carlsbad Police Department received two calls for service to the same address in the 900 block of Tide Court. The first at 3:04 a.m. Officers responded to a report of drugs and a party at the Tide Court address.  

The second call came in at 3:47 a.m., while officers were outside the address. A delayed call for service reporting the sound of gunshots fired at the same address.  

Arriving officers entered, cleared the residence and found what looked to be bullet holes in the walls of the unit.  

Further investigation found a 33-year-old Hispanic male had been dropped off at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.  

The investigation is ongoing.
