Valley Center, CA–A Valley Center man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of firing a pellet gun at his neighbor’s vehicle, the Sheriff’s Department said.
The suspect, 57- year- old Vincent Meraz was detained after surrendering to deputies outside his residence. A pellet gun matching the description of the weapon used was located inside the residence. Meraz was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle.
On July 29, at around 10:54 a.m.., deputies from the Valley Center Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at 16900 block of Guejito Road in Valley Center.
The victim reported he and his neighbor, Meraz have been in an ongoing argument regarding parking issues. On Thursday, the victim parked his vehicle near Meraz’s residence and another argument ensued. As the victim was moving his vehicle his neighbor walked up to the victim’s vehicle and fired a round, shattering the rear passenger side window. The victim was able to drive away from the man and call 9-1-1. No injuries were reported.
The incident is under investigation.
