Escondido Police seek information on hit-and-run that left teen injured

Escondido, CA–The Escondido Police Department is actively seeking information about a hit-and-run incident that left a 14-year-old boy critically injured on Thursday night.

The collision occurred in the 1100 block of North Fig Street just before 9:30 p.m. 

Authorities received a 911 call at 9:26 p.m. reporting the boy unconscious in the street. Witnesses reported hearing a vehicle speeding south away from the scene.

The teen, who may have been on a skateboard at the time of the crash, was rushed to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. His identity has not yet been released.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Officer Paul Smyth at (760) 839-4423.
