SAN YSIDRO–A driver was fatally injured Tuesday afternoon when he collided with a metal swing arm barricade at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, the California Highway Patrol reports.
At approximately 2:14 p.m, a gray Hyundai Sedan driven by a 27-year-old male, from Santa Ana was attempting to cross into the United States through the San Ysidro Port of Entry. The Hyundai was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with the barricade. As a result of the collision the driver sustained fatal injuries.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision, according to CHP spokesman Sal Castro.
