Vista, CA–A man caught burglarizing a home Tuesday afternoon in Vista was arrested by Sheriff’s Department deputies.
Deputies received a report around 2:45 p.m. of a residential burglary in process. The suspect, Christopher Russell, 23, allegedly used a chair to break the front window of the home in the 300 block of North Melrose Drive. A neighbor watched Russell enter through the window and immediately called the Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff’s Department Lt. Aloha Peters stated in a release.
Deputies, along with a Sheriff’s K-9, arrived and surrounded the home. Once Russell discovered deputies were outside, he surrendered peacefully. After Russell was placed under arrest, the homeowner returned to the residence. The owner discovered several rooms had been gone through and his belongings were strewn about.
Because of the quick action taken by the neighbor and deputies, no items were stolen from the home and only the window was damaged. Russell was arrested for residential burglary and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
