ENCINITAS–Sheriff’s deputies arrested and charged a couple for stealing Amazon packages from residents, a Sheriff’s department spokes man said Tuesday.

Deputies received a radio call of a vehicle following an Amazon delivery truck in Encinitas. The driver of the delivery truck noticed he was being followed on his route by a Dodge Charger. The driver also noticed an occupant of the vehicle would exit their vehicle and take packages from the houses after he dropped them off. The driver of the delivery truck called 9-1-1 and kept our dispatcher updated until deputies could get in the area.

Deputies located the suspect vehicle and made contact with the occupants. Several packages from the delivery truck were found in the vehicle as well as suspected methamphetamine, heroin, stolen mail from thirteen different individuals and a loaded firearm. It was determined the suspects are both on probation for theft, narcotics and weapons violations. The suspects were identified as Kristina Green and Gary Withers, both residents of San Diego.

This investigation is ongoing as detectives search for additional victims. Green and Withers will be booked on numerous charges including mail theft, possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, felon in possession of a handgun and possession of stolen property.
