SAN DIEGO–The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency is advising the public of COVID-19 outbreaks at three Awaken Church locations.

On Nov. 28, the County advised that any person who attended indoor services and events at Awaken Church at 7620 Balboa Avenue in San Diego between Nov. 15 to Nov. 22 should quarantine for 14 days following their last date of exposure and watch for symptoms.

On Tuesday, the County added to that advisory two new Awaken Church locations: 1760 Descanso Avenue in San Marcos, between November 15 and November 22, and at 861 Showroom Place in Chula Vista, between November 15 and November 22.

As of December 2, the three outbreaks totaled 64 cases.

All of those who attended services at any of the three locations during the specified times should also be tested for COVID-19. No-cost testing locations can be found by calling 2-1-1 or visiting the County’s coronavirus website – coronavirus-sd.com.

Public notifications of COVID-19 disease outbreak locations are uncommon because public health investigators are generally able to identify potentially exposed individuals to specific cases. At these three outbreak locations, public health has been unable to identify and notify all of those potentially exposed.

All members of the public should wear face coverings and practice social distancing. People should also avoid large gatherings. No more than three households are recommended for outdoor gatherings and gatherings indoors are prohibited for counties in the purple tier. These actions help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect individuals from getting the virus.
