Escondido, CA–Construction crews continue to make progress on the Escondido Creek Trail project, with active work zones stretching across multiple sections of the corridor.
Over the next two weeks, residents can expect several visible improvements along the trail, as well as intermittent closures.
Work includes excavation and piping placement for irrigation, plus installation of lateral sleeving and drainage systems between Harding and Rose Streets. Crews are also installing cable railings east of Harding Street on the south side bike path, as well as foundations for new pathway lights near the Ash Street crossing.
Additional improvements are underway south of Washington Park, where excavation and backfilling are taking place for a new play area. The work includes the installation of engineered wood fiber safety surfacing. Meanwhile, crews are setting forms, placing rebar, and preparing to pour concrete for a storm drain box near Washington Park on the north side of the trail.
Trail users should expect periodic closures, including on the south side bike path east of Harding Street during cable railing installation.
In addition, an adjacent project — the Emergency Truck Sewer Replacement — is underway near the Creek Trail limits. On Sept. 2, crews began work on Fig Street, prompting a full closure of the Fig Street bridge for about one month.
Recent progress along the trail includes drilling and pouring concrete for lighting posts, installation of pull boxes between Ash and Harding Streets, and installation of fence posts between Rose and Harding Streets.
Despite ongoing work, businesses along the Creek Trail Corridor remain open and are encouraging residents to shop locally throughout the year.
Construction on the Escondido Creek Trail began in February 2025 and stretches from Citracado Parkway to North Midway Drive. Work is moving generally west to east and is scheduled for completion in late 2025, pending any unforeseen delays. Construction hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding city-recognized holidays.
