City of Encinitas reopens stair access to beaches

ENCINITAS–The beach access stairways located at Swami’s, D Street, Stonesteps, and Grandview have opened to the public Saturday.

A facial covering is mandatory while using the narrow staircases, according to the City of Encinitas. 

The access points are only to transit back and forth to the beach. Jogging and working out on stairs is prohibited. 

Beacons Beach access will remain closed due to damages from the April 10 rainstorms which dropped over 4 inches of rain in a short time period causing erosion damage to the bluff and trail.  

Encinitas Parks and Recreation Department is awaiting approval from the Coastal Commission to allow the necessary repairs to be made to reopen the trail. Beacons Beach Trail will remain closed until the repairs are completed.
