CAMP PENDLETON–A Camp Pendleton brush fire that swept through the middle of the base is 50 percent contained, according to Camp Pendleton officials.

The three-acre vegetation fire was first spotted Sunday shortly before noon in the Wilcox Range. By late afternoon, the blaze had spread to 600 acres.

There were no threats to communities surrounding the base, according to National Weather Service.

Camp Pendleton said all units were released. The burned area will continue to be patrolled.

The cause of the fire in unknown.
