31 motorists cited at Escondido DUI and license checkpoint

By SDCN Editor

Escondido, CA–The Escondido Police Department conducted a license and sobriety checkpoint at El Norte Parkway and Ash Street on November 1, resulting in 31 citations, authorities confirmed.

From 6 p.m. to midnight, approximately 2,350 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with officers screening around 1,474 motorists. About 28 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle without a valid license, and 3 were cited for driving with a suspended license.

DUI checkpoints are strategically placed based on data regarding impaired driving incidents and related collisions. The main goal of these checkpoints is to enhance public safety by identifying and removing potentially impaired drivers from the road.

The next DUI checkpoint in Escondido is scheduled for December 20.

This initiative was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
