Oceanside, CA–Oceanside Police found a 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound in a vehicle Sunday near the front gate of Camp Pendleton, authorities said.
At about 11:30 p.m., officers responded to multiple calls of shots fired from the area of 1300 North Pacific Street near the Oceanside Harbor.
Officers responded and blocked intersections to prevent potential suspects from fleeing the area. They located a vehicle attempting to leave the area containing two female juveniles and five male juveniles. Officers detained the juveniles and found opened alcohol containers in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded ghost gun, the Oceanside Police Department said in a news release.
Officers later received a call of a gunshot victim who had just arrived near the intersection of Harbor Drive and San Rafael Drive. The teen was flown to Scripps Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
