SAN DIEGO–The San Diego Bike Coalition, a countywide organization advocating for the rights of all people on bikes, is inviting riders of all abilities to try their wheels at bike touring.
The fourth annual Kerry’s Ride honors late board member, Kerry Kunsman, who believed that anyone could bike tour.
“This ride finishes Kunsman’s ride home to San Diego from Canada, and celebrates his legacy of educating everyone on the joys of bike touring,” says Bike Coalition Executive Director Andy Hanshaw. “With the support of a great group, people of all skill levels can experience the beauty of San Diego’s coastline on two wheels.”
The two-day adventure invites riders to explore multiple coastal cities while pedaling at a leisurely rate. The Bike Coalition hopes the scenic and social bike tour introduces more people to the magic of commuting and traveling by bicycle.
On February 24, the group will hop on their bikes and depart from San Juan Capistrano toward North County San Diego. Followed by a support van, riders will wind down the coast, ending the first day at South Carlsbad State Beach just before sun down. Bikers will put their wheels to rest and pop up tents for an evening of campfire and conversation.
On February 25, riders will depart for day two, pedaling from Carlsbad to downtown San Diego. In the early afternoon, the group will conclude the ride at Mission Brewery, toasting to the tour and raising a glass for Kerry.
