El Cajon, CA–Sycuan Casino Resort has teamed up with San Diego Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove to launch a new limited-time menu item: The 44 Smash Burger.
Developed by Senior Executive Chef Thierry Bregeon, the burger draws inspiration from Musgrove’s San Diego roots and his signature jersey number. It features three beef patties stacked with bacon jam, Muenster cheese, lettuce, tomato, and habanero aioli on a toasted bun, topped with a fried pickle. Diners can choose from sides including fries, coleslaw, salad, mac and cheese, or ranchero beans.
Musgrove gave the creation his stamp of approval during a tasting.
“Wow, this is some really good bacon jam! The habanero is not too spicy. And the melted cheese? This is a pretty freaking good burger,” he said.
The flavor profile, which blends sweet and spicy notes, reflects the Hispanic American culinary influence in San Diego while celebrating Musgrove’s connection to the city.
The 44 Smash Burger is available for a limited time at Rank & File, Sycuan Casino Resort’s dining venue.
