San Diego, CA–Mama’s Kitchen is gearing up for its 34th annual Mama’s Day fundraiser, set to take place on June 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.
This beloved culinary event invites guests to enjoy stunning waterfront views while indulging in unlimited tastings from top local restaurants, bakeries, breweries, and more—all in support of a vital cause.
The evening will feature live music, interactive pop-up booths, opportunity drawings, and photo stations to capture unforgettable moments. A full lineup of participating culinary partners will be announced in May, featuring various eateries that donate their time and talents to Mama’s Kitchen.
“Mama’s Day is a key event that allows us to provide meals for thousands of San Diegans battling serious illnesses and facing a high risk of malnutrition,” said Eva Matthews, CEO of Mama’s Kitchen. “With the potential for federal funding cuts impacting up to 30% of our budget, it’s more important than ever for our community to come together. Events like Mama’s Day not only help sustain our mission but also celebrate the incredible food and drink scene in San Diego—it’s truly a win-win.”
Proceeds from the event directly fund Mama’s Kitchen’s medically tailored meal delivery program, ensuring that critically ill individuals receive free, nutritious meals. In 2024, the fundraiser surpassed its goal, raising over $141,000, which provided more than 54,000 meals. This year, the organization aims to raise $170,000, helping to fund 68,000 meals for those in need.
Founded in 1990, Mama’s Kitchen began as a grassroots effort to support San Diegans living with HIV/AIDS. Recognizing the need for reliable meal services, the organization expanded its mission over the years to serve individuals with cancer, heart failure, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. Today, the nonprofit also offers nutritional counseling and recently delivered its 12 millionth meal, becoming one of only two organizations nationwide to earn accreditation from the Food is Medicine Coalition.
Early bird tickets go on sale from April 11 to 18 for $140, with regular pricing starting April 19. Tickets can be purchased on their website.
