Alpine, CA–The Alpine American Legion Post 258 is set to host a transformative fundraising event this Saturday, drawing the community together for a day of festivities and support.
The event, which kicks off at 1 p.m. under the shelter of The Old Oak Tree, promises a lively afternoon filled with entertainment, competitions, and local fare.
Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities, including a cornhole tournament, a silent auction with items generously donated by local businesses, an opportunity drawing, and a dunk tank. Food offerings will range from refreshing snow cones to other delicious options. The highlight of the day will be a Music Festival featuring performances by four talented local bands: The Cee Cee Music Project, Band of Brothers, Gale and The ‘OlBoys, and Ophelia Vibe.
The purpose of this event extends beyond entertainment. All funds raised will go toward the Alpine American Legion’s mission to renovate and maintain their facilities, ensuring they can continue serving service members, veterans, their families, and the broader community with distinction.
Post 258 has been a cornerstone of support in Alpine for over three decades. The organization embodies a spirit of mutual helpfulness and has consistently provided aid during times of crisis, particularly to local emergency responders. However, the Post currently faces significant financial challenges due to rising rent and maintenance costs. Despite these obstacles, Post 258 remains a vital resource for veterans and community members, offering daily meals, camaraderie, entertainment, and essential services.
The Post received a Neighborhood Reinvestment Program Grant from the County of San Diego, through the office of Supervisor Joel Anderson. This grant has enabled critical infrastructure improvements, including roof repairs and enhanced security measures. Nevertheless, the Post’s commitment to its mission drives it to pursue further initiatives to support its members and the community.
The upcoming fundraiser and music festival represent more than just an event; they are a testament to Post 258’s enduring legacy of service, inclusivity, and community spirit. As the Alpine community comes together to support this cause, they reinforce the values of unity and gratitude, honoring the sacrifices of those who have served.
