Los Angeles, CA–The 82nd Golden Globes marked the start of awards season, honoring winners in 27 categories across film and television at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on Sunday.
Stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser served as the evening’s host. She was also a nominee for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television but lost to Ali Wong, who took home the award for her special Ali Wong: Single Lady.
Leading the nominations this year was the musical, Emilia Pérez, earning a record-breaking 10 nods, surpassing Barbie’s previous high of nine nominations last year. On the television side, The Bear topped the list with five nominations.

Viola Davis was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, while Ted Danson received the Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes Golden Gala in Los Angeles on Friday.
Davis began her career on stage, earning critical acclaim with her film breakthrough in Doubt (2008), directed by John Patrick Shanley, where she played a supporting role alongside Meryl Streep. She gained further recognition in The Help (2011), directed by Tate Taylor and based on Kathryn Stockett’s novel, sharing the screen with Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer, and Bryce Dallas Howard. Davis’s notable roles include Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad (2016), Rose Maxson in Fences (2016), Widows (2018) by Steve McQueen, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2020) by George C. Wolfe, The Unforgivable (2021) with Sandra Bullock, and The Woman King (2022) by Gina Prince-Bythewood. On television, she starred in Shonda Rhimes’ hit series How to Get Away with Murder (2014–2020).
The Cecil B. DeMille Award honors individuals for their outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.
Ted Danson gained fame with his role in the iconic sitcom Cheers (1982–1993) and later starred in Becker (1998–2004). His other television credits include Something About Amelia (1984), Damages (2007–2012), Fargo (2015), The Good Place (2016–2020) with Kristen Bell, and Mr. Mayor (2021–2022). Danson’s current project is the comedy series A Man on the Inside (2024). His film credits include The Onion Field (1979), Three Men and a Baby (1987) and its sequel, Three Men and a Little Lady (1990), Dad (1989), Made in America (1993), and Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan (1998).
