Del Mar, CA–The San Diego County Fair will host its annual Fireworks Spectacular on the Fourth of July — along with other patriotic pomp and circumstance throughout the day — to kick off the final weekend of the biggest and best community celebration in the region.
While some Fairgoers have become accustomed to seeing the Fair end for the year with fireworks on the Fourth, the 2024 Fair will be open through Sunday, July 7, allowing San Diegans to have the whole holiday weekend for fun, rides, games, Fair food favorites, shopping, exhibits, live music, entertainment, and more.
But many San Diegans also plan their Fourth of July weekend around the Fireworks Spectacular. The high-octane pyrotechnic show is fun for all ages. The 12-minute high-energy show will light the night sky with bright and bold sparklers.
Fairgoers can avoid the crowds and secure seats in the grandstand for the Fireworks Spectacular by purchasing their tickets online at SDFair.com. Tickets start at $22 and include a reserved seat in the grandstand and same-day Fair admission. Doors to the grandstand open at 7:30 p.m., and fireworks begin at 9 p.m. after the sun is down.
The fireworks will end a day’s worth of celebrations of the nation’s independence and freedoms. At 2 p.m., the Fair will host the return of the festive 4th of July Parade which will include the Moster Firetruck, the Marine Corps Marching Band, Girl Scout Troops, and roller skaters from Ringer’s Roller Rink. Walkaround entertainers Circus Luminescence, Mark Wilder from The Wilder Show, Buck Trout, and stilt walkers will also join the parade route that stretches from the Fun Zone and heads east on The Avenue to the O’Brien Gate.
Guests can also come to the Fair dressed in red, white, and blue patriotic garb and enter the “Most Patriotic” Costume Contest at 4:30 p.m. in Family Funville.
Those who do not plan to purchase their parking in advance online are encouraged to first go to off-site lots. Horsepark parking is $10. It is east of the Fairgrounds on Via de la Valle. Parking at Canyon Crest Academy off Del Mar Heights Road and east of Interstate 5 is FREE. Both lots offer free shuttle rides to and from the San Diego County Fair.
