SAN DIEGO–The Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation will hold its annual family-friendly Fall Back Festival this Sunday.
For twenty years the foundation has hosted Fall Back Festival, a street fair that celebrates the history and culture of the Gaslamp Quarter. This year, San Diego families can bring the history of the Gaslamp Quarter into their own homes or explore the historic neighborhood, while remaining safely distanced, by participating in a scavenger hunt.
“We love organizing the Fall Back Festival because it’s an opportunity for us to give back to our community,” says Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation Executive Director, Rhiannon Luna, “and this year we felt it was more important than ever to put on this fun, family-friendly event. 2020 has been a hard year for museums but hosting this event and reconnecting with our communities means everything to us.”
Fall Back Festival is offering a variety of virtual programs such as a tutorial for making your own Victorian-style fan, a Bum the Dog puppet show with the opportunity to create your own Bum the Dog puppet, a guided virtual tour of the Davis-Horton House, and other activities.
For those looking to get out and about, Fall Back Festival’s scavenger hunt provides participants an opportunity to learn the history of downtown while remaining safely distanced. The scavenger hunt is played using the app city hunt and requires a fee of $40 with a maximum of five players.
The festival advances the mission of the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation. All the virtual content will be free for all to watch and enjoy thanks to event partner, Heritage Architecture and Planning, and proceeds from the scavenger hunt will directly benefit the organization.
