Blue Fox Entertainment will release the heartwarming family adventure Autumn and the Black Jaguar in theaters across the U.S. on January 17.
This international box office hit comes from the acclaimed team behind Mia and the White Lion and The Wolf and the Lion. Directed by Gilles de Maistre, the film is another collaboration with producer Catherine Camborde and writer Prune de Maistre, who also happens to be Gilles’ wife.
The cast features Lumi Pollack (Disney’s How We Became the Biggest Band in the World), Emily Bett Rickards (CW’s Arrow), Paul Greene (Somewhere), Wayne Charles Baker (Indian Horse), Kelly Hope Taylor (Good Sam) and newcomers Lucrezia Pini and Airam Camacho.
The story follows Autumn, a young girl raised in the Amazon rainforest, who forms a unique bond with a lost jaguar cub she names Hope. Tragedy forces Autumn to leave her beloved friend behind when she moves to New York City. Years later, now 14 and acclimated to urban life, Autumn learns her childhood village is under threat from animal traffickers. Determined to protect the rainforest and reunite with Hope, she sets on a daring mission. Despite the warnings of her well-meaning but clumsy biology teacher Anja (Emily Bett Rickards), Autumn embarks on a journey that will test her courage and determination.
Lumi Pollack spent over a year bonding with the jaguar, Hope when the cub was just a month old to bring authenticity to their on-screen relationship. This unique imprinting process fostered a genuine connection that shines through in the film.
“After the tremendous success of The Wolf and The Lion, we’re thrilled to introduce audiences to Autumn and the Black Jaguar,” said James Huntsman of Blue Fox Entertainment. “Gilles and his team have crafted another breathtaking adventure, this time immersing viewers in the vibrant beauty of the Amazon rainforest, filled with compelling characters and incredible wildlife.”
Mark your calendars for this inspiring story of friendship, bravery, and conservation, which will be shown in theaters nationwide this January.
