Solana Beach, CA–Readers will have the opportunity to meet two of today’s most celebrated historical fiction authors when Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray visit Solana Beach on July 21 for a special discussion and book signing of their latest novel, A Pair of Aces.
The free event, presented in partnership with the Friends of the Solana Beach Library, will begin at 6 p.m. at the Earl Warren Middle School Multipurpose Room.
Attendees will hear the co-authors discuss their newest collaboration, which follows the success of The Personal Librarian, a Good Morning America Book Club selection that sold more than one million copies, and The First Ladies, a New York Times and USA Today bestseller that was named Target’s Book of the Year.
A Pair of Aces offers a dramatic retelling of the downfall of notorious mob boss Lucky Luciano through the perspectives of two remarkable women: Eunice Carter, Manhattan’s first Black female prosecutor, and Polly Adler, one of New York City’s most famous madams. The novel explores themes of race, class, gender discrimination, organized crime, and justice while blending historical fact with compelling fiction.
Benedict, a former litigation attorney and graduate of Boston College and Boston University School of Law, brings legal authenticity to the novel’s courtroom scenes. She is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author who resides in Pittsburgh with her family.
Murray is the author of more than 30 novels and a New York Times and USA Today bestselling writer. She received the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work for her novel Stand Your Ground, which was also recognized as a Library Journal Best Book of the Year.
Books may be purchased in advance and picked up at the event, collected beforehand at Camino Books, or shipped according to the buyer’s instructions.
