Escondido, CA –A water main break on Tuesday afternoon prompted traffic diversions and a rapid response from local fire and police departments, according to the City of Escondido.

The Escondido Fire Department responded to the incident at 2:10 p.m. at Olivia Glen and Vermont Avenue. Upon arrival, crews discovered a ruptured water main creating a significant flow of water and a developing sinkhole in the street, which posed a potential traffic hazard.

The Escondido Police Department assisted with traffic control as fire crews worked to contain the situation. The leak caused damage to a vacant townhome and a nearby parked vehicle but resulted in no reported injuries.

Water service in the affected area was shut off for the remainder of the night while repair crews addressed the damage. Officials thanked residents for their patience during the ongoing repair efforts.
