Carlsbad, CA–A man was hospitalized with serious injuries following a stabbing early Sunday morning in Carlsbad, authorities said.

Carlsbad police officers responded to the 400 block of Grand Avenue around 1:48 a.m. to reports of a stabbing.

When officers arrived on scene, they located a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Police rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries and is reported to be in stable condition. His identity has not been released.

Preliminary information indicates the stabbing occurred during a physical altercation involving multiple individuals. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
