Oceanside, CA–Fire crews were dispatched to a two-alarm structure fire that broke out at a commercial building in North County, fire officials said.
The Oceanside Fire Department received a call just after 9 p.m. of the blaze at 4630 North Avenue in Oceanside.
When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found flames rising from the roof of the business. Due to the size of the building, and the resources needed to combat the fire, they requested additional crews from Vista, Carlsbad, and San Marcos Fire Departments.
Two ladder trucks went to the roof to complete a coordinated attack on the fire with interior crews.
Once inside the building, crews found a sprinkler system that was holding the fire in check, and isolated it to only the roof, fire officials said in a news release.
Additional crews checked the rest of the large structure for any extension, but none was found. The fire was contained to the roof within 20 minutes.
San Diego Haz Mat 1 and San Diego County of Environmental Health were also called out to the scene for hazardous materials that were located within the structure.
It was reported that the building’s roof had recently undergone some construction. There were no injuries to anyone or firefighters.
A fire investigator remained on the scene to complete their investigation and help the owner secure the building.
