ENCINITAS–Twenty six pallets of pet beds of all shapes and colors, folding pet toy boxes, and belly wraps for dogs arrived at Rancho Coastal Humane Society in Encinitas Thursday afternoon.
The supplies from PetSmart were donated through Rescue Bank operated by Greatergood.org, a non-profit organization that supports animal rescue and rehabilitation groups by providing services and supplies. The supplies will be distributed to registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit animal welfare organizations throughout southern California on a first come – first served basis.
The shipment includes an estimated 540 pet beds, 1,800 folding pet toy boxes, and 1,150 dog belly wraps. The supplies are free to non-profit rescue groups. Their only expense is for shipping costs.
“We’ve distributed pet supplies from Rescue Bank and Greatergood.org many times. This is the first time we’ve had pet beds,” Rancho Coastal Humane Society spokesman John Van Zante said.
“Many rescues struggle to pay full price for pet supplies. With donations from Rescue Bank operated by Greatergood.org they pay only for shipping,” Rancho Coastal Humane Society President Judi Sanzo explains. “The beds, folding boxes, and belly wraps are free. The money they save can be used for spay/neuter, veterinary services, and anything else they need to provide care until the pets are adopted.”
· Rescues will pay only $5.00 for a box containing 12 beds.
· $5.00 for a box of 12 folding pet toy boxes.
· $5.00 for a box of 48 dog belly wraps.
Sanzo says there are more than 200 rescue groups in San Diego county.
“All of their animals deserve proper care. Greatergood.org and Rescue Bank trust Rancho Coastal Humane Society to carry out their intentions and help animals waiting to be adopted.”
Interested rescue groups need to contact the humane society as soon as possible to make an appointment for pick up.
