RANCHO SANTA FE–The Foundation for Animal Care and Education (FACE) hosted its Bags & Baubles silent auction extravaganza for the ninth consecutive year to raise funds and awareness for local pets in need of life-saving veterinary care.
This year was one of the most successful yet, raising over $138,000 – and 100% of the proceeds will go back to the animals!
FACE’s Bags & Baubles fundraiser offered San Diego’s fashion & philanthropic crowds the chance to shop for a good cause. Hundreds of designer and vegan handbags, jewelry, sunglasses, men’s items, and accessories were auctioned to raise funds for families struggling to save their beloved pets from economic euthanasia – a tragic situation that occurs when a pet is euthanized for a treatable medical condition due to financial hardship.
Guests enjoyed ocean views at the sprawling Rancho Santa Fe estate called Casa de Cinira, a nod to Cini and Ira Robb, the hosts of Bags & Baubles. Cini is also the Board President of FACE Foundation, while Ira serves on the Advisory Committee. The animal-loving couple opened their Tuscan-inspired doors to event guests who were treated to hor d’oevres, wine, mimosas, and gourmet desserts while shopping and enjoying the estate. Ten lucky opportunity prize winners walked away with luxe beauty, fashion, and pet packages.
Over 400 community members joined FACE at this life-saving event and helped to raise over $138,000 for local pets and families. Among guests were FACE grantees, Pinky, an adorable poodle mix and her mom, Kris. FACE helped Pinky in late 2018 to repair an excrusiatingly painful rupture in her knee. Without treatment, Pinky would have been left in unbearable pain and barely able to walk – a fate worse than death. 100% of the proceeds from this year’s Bags & Baubles will benefit pets in need of emergency veterinary care like Pinky.
Established in 2006, FACE is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 public charity that provides financial assistance for emergency veterinary care. FACE strives to save lives, reduce economic euthanasia, and increase the wellness of San Diego’s pets. To learn more about the organization, call (858) 450-3223 or visit www.face4pets.org.
