A poem dedicated to my grandson, Daniel Jacobs
By Herb Cawthorne
Say Whoa!
Courage
What kind does it take
To join the armed forces
When danger’s at stake
Honor
A concept foreign to most
He wears like a birthmark
Standing at his post
Character
Feel it embrace
As he joins with others
To make us all safe
Humility
A tacit notion
He serves by choice
A unique devotion
Courage
What kind does it take
To join the armed forces
When danger’s at stake
Daniel
I watched him grow
Day after day
I just say Whoa
Grandson
Who makes me grin
Not only a grandson
A soldier and a friend
