Los Angeles, CA–A suspect was arrested in connection to a shooting that killed one person, and injured three others at a shopping center Saturday in Los Angeles, authorities said.
The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Mark Connole of Woodland Hills, CA. He was booked at Van Nuys Jail for murder. His bail has been set at $2 million, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a news release.
On Saturday, around 3:45 p.m., the victims arrived at the Fallbrook Shopping Center parking lot in the 22900 block of Vanowen Street. One of the victims met with the suspect for unknown reasons. An argument ensued between the suspect and the victims when the suspect produced a handgun and began to fire at them. Three victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced a fourth victim dead at the scene. Multiple people fled the area, and numerous calls to 911 were generated.
The suspect, described as a white male, was seen fleeing the area in a red Honda. Responding Topanga area officers were directed to the vehicle by an LAPD Airship. A short pursuit ensued after the driver failed to yield. The driver eventually pulled over and was taken into custody without incident. A firearm was recovered, and the suspect was arrested for murder and transported to Topanga Area Station.
The investigation is ongoing.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to the family.
