Four dead, 10 injured in California shooting

By SDCN Staff

Stockton, CA–Four people were killed, and at least 10 others were injured in a shooting at a family gathering at a banquet hall in Stockton, California Friday evening, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called shortly before 6 p.m. for reports of gunfire near the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue.

When they arrived on scene, they found multiple victims, several of whom were transported to area hospitals. Four people were pronounced dead.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect who fled the scene is still at large.

Authorities said the investigation is in its early stages and the incident appears to have been targeted, though detectives are continuing to explore all possibilities. Officials said they are working to determine what led up to the shooting.

Stockton sits along the San Joaquin River in the northern San Joaquin Valley, with Sacramento and several San Francisco Bay Area cities located nearby.
