SAN FRANCISCO–The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) said Thursday that the State Senate confirmed 35-0 the appointment of Carla J. Peterman as Commissioner of the CPUC. Commissioner Peterman was appointed to the CPUC by Governor Jerry Brown in December 2012.

“I would like to extend my appreciation to the Legislature for confirming my appointment to the CPUC,” said Commissioner Peterman.  “I look forward to continuing my work to help ensure that the essential services regulated by the CPUC are provided to customers in a safe and reliable manner.”

Commissioner Peterman was previously appointed by Governor Brown, in 2011, to the California Energy Commission. Commissioner Peterman has conducted research at the University of California Energy Institute and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Commissioner Peterman has also served as an environmental business analyst at community redevelopment non-profit Isles Inc., and an associate focused on energy financing in the investment banking division at Lehman Brothers. Commissioner Peterman earned a Master of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar. Commissioner Peterman also holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Howard University, where she graduated summa cum laude.
