SACRAMENTO–The California Democratic Party (CDP) is preparing to host its first virtual executive board conference to date, the Summer Executive Board Meeting through Zoom.
The CDP’s Executive Board meeting is expecting 1,800 participants starting Thursday July, 23 through Sunday July 26.
Democrats have put together a program for this weekend’s meeting including countless breakout rooms for caucus and committee meetings, a virtual “Training Extravaganza” program, with 16 activist training sessions, four iissue salons with special guests including former Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich and 2020 Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang, and Planned Parenthood of California’s Jodi Hicks, Actor/Activist Grace Parra and MoveOn spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre among others. Saturday’s general session meeting will pay tribute to Rep. John Lewis by Reverend James Lawson and Sunday’s general session will feature Rep. Tony Coelho. CDP Chair Rusty Hicks will also moderate a discussion with Attorney General Xavier Beccera and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison.
“We’re excited to be hosting Party leaders and activists at our Summer Executive Board Meeting the weekend after our largest Virtual Day of Action which saw 800 volunteers, and seven congressional candidates participate,” said Rusty Hicks, California Democratic Party Chair, “a lot of work has gone into making this Executive Board Meeting a success and CA Democrats are energized, and organized, and ready to take back the White House and Senate in November.“
The California Democratic Party’s Executive Board Meeting occurs just one month before the virtual Democratic National Convention in August where the presumptive presidential candidate will be nominated. Executive Board meetings are held four times per year, the California Democratic Party’s Executive Board gathers to vote and discuss CDP business, endorse ballot measures and support candidates. The General Session will be live streamed on cadem.org.
