Camp Pendleton, CA–Fire crews are on the ground battling a 925 acres wildfire that broke out on Camp Pendleton Wednesday afternoon.

The blaze was first reported around 2:30 p.m. east of the 33 Area. Mandatory evacuations were ordered in the 25 area (Lake O’Neill Campground, Wounded Warrior Battalion), 26 area and 27 area, according to Camp Pendleton officials.

Late Wednesday night, evacuees were allowed to re-enter O’Neill Heights Housing, Lake O’Neill Campground, and Wounded Warrior Battalion. 

The intersection of Basilone Road and Vandergrift Blvd is open, and Basilone Road is open to Stagecoach Road intersection.

Camp Pendleton firefighters will remain on the scene to contain the fire. The blaze is currently at zero containment. Additional resources will arrive on base Wednesday morning.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
