Vista, CA–An 18-year-old high school student has been arrested Wednesday on numerous charges, including bringing a ghost gun to a high school in Vista.

Alta Vista High School student Eduardo Soto was contacted by school staff because he appeared intoxicated.

During the contact, Soto became aggressive and pushed a school staff member. Security intervened and while walking with him, a blue and silver handgun fell out of his jacket pocket. Soto was detained by school staff until Sheriff’s deputies arrived on campus, Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Andrew Brumfield stated in a news release.

Deputies determined the handgun was a ghost gun with no serial markings. Soto also had liquor, a handgun magazine, and ammunition in his possession.

Soto was arrested for possession of a weapon on school grounds, carrying a handgun while not the registered owner, possession of a ghost gun, carrying a handgun, possession of liquor on school property, and battery on a school official.

Soto did not make any statements threatening school staff or students. He was transported to Vista Detention Facility where he is being held on $25,000 bail.

Sheriff’s Department School Resource deputies are investigating the incident.
