CARLSBAD–A 34-year-old Carlsbad man was arrested in connection with the stabbing of a 25-year-old male, Carlsbad police said Saturday.

Carlsbad police, with the assistance of Oceanside police, arrested Michael Sarivalas in the 3900 block of Adams Street in Carlsbad.

The stabbing occurred on January 17 at the victim’s residence in Carlsbad. The victim and Sarivalas are acquaintances and were interacting in the victim’s apartment when an argument erupted that resulted in the stabbing. After which, Sarivalas fled the scene.

The victim suffered knife wounds to his back. He was transported to the UCSD Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and later released.

Sarivalas was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on a $30,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
