Passenger arrested on illegal drug charge during traffic stop

By Gina Yarbrough

Spring Valley, CA–A late-night traffic stop in Spring Valley resulted in the arrest of a man on drug and weapons charges, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop at 10:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Sweetwater Road. During the stop, deputies contacted Michael Galindo, 45, who was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Galindo was found to be in possession of an illegal narcotic and an unregistered, loaded firearm. Deputies also determined that he is a convicted felon who was on probation at the time of the stop.

Galindo was arrested on multiple charges related to narcotics and firearm and was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.

The vehicle involved in the stop was towed due to an expired registration that had lapsed for more than six months, officials said.
