El Cajon, CA–A motorcyclist was arrested Monday afternoon following a road rage shooting involving a pickup truck driver, according to the El Cajon Police Department.
Authorities responded to reports of a road rage incident just before 3 p.m. in the 700 block of Jamacha Road. The altercation involved a motorcycle carrying two individuals and the driver of a pickup truck. During the confrontation, one of the motorcycle occupants fired a gun at the truck. Although the driver was unharmed, he later discovered a bullet hole in his vehicle.
While canvassing the area, officers spotted two individuals matching the suspects’ descriptions walking nearby. When officers attempted to contact them, the pair fled into a nearby residence. A motorcycle consistent with the one involved in the incident was found parked in the driveway.
A Sheriff’s Department helicopter assisted in the search and spotted the suspects fleeing from the home to a nearby drainage canal. Coordinating with ground units, officers located the individuals hiding in a drainage tunnel, where they were detained.
Investigators later determined the motorcycle had been reported stolen out of San Diego. Police are continuing their investigation and are actively searching for the firearm used in the shooting.
