Fugitive with history of suspected violence arrested at hotel

By SDCN Editor

El Cajon, CA–A joint operation involving the El Cajon Police Department, U.S. Marshals, and deputies from the San Diego Sheriff’s Department led to the arrest of a suspected violent fugitive at a hotel in East County on March 7, authorities said.

The operation was carried out following the issuance of a search warrant based on information that 39-year-old Andrew Martin, a resident of East County, was staying at the Clarion Pointe Hotel with his girlfriend in El Cajon.

Martin’s girlfriend had been accommodated at the hotel through a voucher provided by the Sheriff’s Department’s Homeless Outreach team. The arrest of Martin was related to a 2023 case involving felony evading and assault on a law enforcement officer. He was taken into custody and booked into the San Diego County Jail.
