Spring Valley, CA–An abandoned home was destroyed by fire early Friday morning in Spring Valley, prompting deputies to evacuate residents from nearby homes, authorities said.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported structure fire, just after 5:30 a.m., in the 3000 block of South Cordoba Avenue. When deputies arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames. Deputies evacuated residents from surrounding homes as firefighters with the San Miguel Fire Department worked to contain the blaze.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, and residents who had been evacuated were later allowed to return to their homes.
Authorities confirmed that the home where the fire occurred was unoccupied and abandoned. No injuries were reported, and no additional property damage was reported.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office Bomb and Arson Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire. The cause of the blaze has not been determined.
